What a week I’ve had!!!

Ever had one of those weeks?  Well I had one last week.  On Friday, I accidently (does anyone ever do it on purpose?) downloaded a Trojan virus that KILLED my computer.  I was scheduled to have my 1st weekend off in months & look what I did!  Well, thanks to the computer guru down the street, I was able to get back up and running by late Friday evening – however none of my printers worked and I had my POS system just barely working.

Well, Stacy my ever present helper and in store miracle worker was able to get everything running smoothly again on Saturday.  The weather however sucked big time and no one wanted to be out in the weather so unfortunatley it didn’t make that much difference.

This morning I came in re-install my regular QB accounting system and after 2 verrrry lonnnng calls to Tech Support – who didn’t have anyone who could speak Enlgish with an accent I could understand – I was able to get it working again.  (I really don’t like that new tv show Outsourced – it hits to close to home!).

Anyways on to the good news.  Our 1st Anniversary Celebration is officially underway!!!!!  Yeah – we made it a whole year.  Thanks to you our wonderful customers!!!!!  Please stop by and sale hello.  We are giving away @ 16 tastings for 2 to several vineyards, Dash tickets, a week at Creative Palooza Childcare, free fudge samples and a GiftWithPurchase for every sale!!!!!  AND when the vineyards are in the store, we will be offering 10% off their wines while they are here.  So we have the anniversary and you get the gifts – what could be better?????????

See ya soon!!!!

Can you believe it has almost been a year?????

It really seems like just yesterday that we were all frantically trying to get everything ready to open the store.  I still remember all the delays involved in getting all the permits just to open the doors.  I hate red tape!!!!!

I want to thank everyone for their support over the past year and hope that you will continue to bless us with your support in the future.  With so many businesses failing (even the big guys like Borders), it makes it that much more meaningful when your community and friends rally around you to help you succeed.  It hasn’t been easy, although nothing worth having is every easy to come by.

Now about the PARTY!!!!!!!  We have so many things planned for the week of March 29 through April 3rd.

We will be having a different vineyard in the store EVERYDAY offering FREE tastings of their fabulous wines.  More details later.

We will be having several authors in the store throughout the week.  More details later.

On Sat & Sun, Laz Barnhill will be here drawing caricatures to benefit the iCan House.  April is National Autism Awareness Month.

Of course we will be giving away a lot of stuff.  At present, we have Free Tastings for 2 at 14 different wineries to give away via daily drawings.  We will have a drawing for a huge gift basket.  There will be GWP everyday for the whole week and you get to choose your own free gift.   There will also be daily unadvertised specials.

Check out the website for all the details now and I will also give more info as we get closer to the date.

Again, thank you so much for all your support. We are looking forward to an exciting 2nd year.

New Arrivals: The Unworn Necklace and Willow Songs. Poetry put to music by Fleur-de-Lisa

The Unworn Necklace

This CD includes Rainy Season,  winner of the best original song award in
the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes  A Cappella Competition in 2010.

The song was written by Sarah Kenan Shunk,
The poetry was written by Roberta Beary

All the songs on this CD inspire us and will, no doubt, move you as well. This collection of songs represents various stages of life: from the spring of our youth and love, through innocence and heartbreak, to the autumn and winter of our years.

Willow Songs  based on Beneath the Willow Tree, Rosenberry books

While both haiku and a cappella music may seem simple on the surface, both present the challenge of distilling complex expressions into accessible forms. These two art forms make a natural pairing.

Both of these CDs are now available at Barnhills in Winston-Salem at a special price of $10 each while supplies last.

New arrival – more art/books from Derek Cernak

Derek recently brought to us a new creation.  He has produced a book about leaves, titled Leaves (duh right).  This book is a beautiful “coffee table” book, a beautiful collection of “art” and a wonderful way to teach children (and adults) about the beauty of nature all rolled into one.

It consists of limited edition “artist prints” of leaves found in Forsyth County, North Carolina.  It is both beautiful and educational at the same time.  You must see it to appreciate its simplicity and beauty.
