Barnhills this week

Last week was absolutely wonderful.  Carolyn Peterson was here signing copies of her book, Fishing for Memories, a touching story about a childs attempts to re-connect with his grandfather who has Alzheimer’s.  Marty Younts was here on Saturday signing copies of her inspirational story fo surviving breast cancer called, Whatever It Takes: Surviving Breast Cancer.

This week we have Ginnie Conaway conducting a Learn to Draw Class today and Wednesday. We also have a book club coming tonight.

Then on Saturday, Banner Elk Winery will be debuting here, offering FREE tastings of their wonderful wines.  I am looking forward to this as I have not had the pleasure of tasting their wines yet either!!

We are back in the swing things after the Holidays.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday with their family and friends.  Barnhills wants to thank all our readers for your support during the holidays.  We are back in full swing with a full calendar.

This week on Friday, we had a band in here called Shadowfax Sound.  This band consists of 5 high school students and they are very talented.  There are 3 guitars, drums and a keyboard.  They will return on Friday, February 4th – come check them out.

Today, we had Grassy Creek Vineyards here and Cynthia as always was utterly charming.  Local author, Carol Roan was here signing copies of her books:  When Last on the Mountain and Speak Up: The Public Speaking Primer.

Tomorrow, author Rob Mihalko will be here from 2-5p reading from and signing copies of his debut novel, Road Kill.

All of the above books are available now at Barnhills.  Stay tuned for details on ao very busy week coming up.

And you thought we were busy last week!

Whew, what a week it has been.  First Immigrant’s Daughter played on Wednesday – we just love their music.  Then Aaron Newton was here on Thursday.  Then Friday, Designs by April Dawn was here and Jesse Carty got our first Poetry Weekend off to a rousing start.  Then on Saturday, it was another fabulous day of Poetry with Valerie Nieman, John Thomas York, Isabel Zuber, Terri Kirby Erickson and Joseph Mills.  April Dawn was also here again.  THEN it SNOWED.  Can you feel Christmas in the air???

On Sunday, April Dawn was here again with her beautiful hand crafted jewelry.  Helen Losse, Becky Gould-Gibson and Patricia Hall rounded out our successful first Poetry Weekend. Stay tuned to see if we do this again.

Now on to next week.  You might want to sit down ’cause this might take awhile.

On Thursday, Bowman Gray IV will be here reading from and signing copies of his book, As a Man Thinketh.  A very beautiful book.Then on Friday, Shadow Springs Vineyard will be in the store offering FREE tastings of their absolutely fabulous wines. 

Also on Friday, local author Molly Grogan Rawls will be in the store with her latest book in the postcard series: Old Salem and Salem College.

On Saturday, local author Laura Wharton will be in the store reading from and signing copies of her debut book, A Pirate’s Bastard.

Also on Saturday and Sunday the Wood ‘n’ Potter will have a huge display of the beautiful pottery and wooden objects. (Just in time for Christmas!)

Then on Sunday, local author Laura George will be in the store reading from and signing copies of her books:  The LOVE of the Fifth Spiritual Paradigm and The TRUTH about the five Primary Religions.

   So you can see another very busy week at Barnhills.  Come by and see what we are all about.  And don’t forget that we have FREE wine tastings every day!

Immigrant’s Daughter will be here tomorrow!

This is your last time this year to hear Immigrant’s Daughter at Barnhills.  😦 

No worries though, they will be back next year.    While they are here tomorrow, we will have free fudge samples, free cheese samples AND FREE WINE TASTINGS.  What could be better?  So be here tomorrow between 11am & 2pm to check it out!!

Not just busy, but Extremely Busy week ahead at Barnhills!!

On Wed 12/1 Immigrant’s Daughter will be here for their last session of 2010 from 11-2. (Don’t worry they will be back in 2011).  You can always get copies of both their CDs anytime at Barnhills.

On Thursday 12/2 local author Aaron Newton will be in the store from 5:30-7:30p discussing and signing copies of his book, A Nation of Farmers.  Aaron will also be speaking at the CFSA conference that begins on Friday the 3rd.

Then on Friday things really get hopping!!!

The first Poetry Weekend at Barnhills begins at 4pm  with Jessie Carty and an open mic forum.  AND  April Dawn of Designs by April Dawn will be having a show beginning on Friday that will last all weekend.   Don;t miss this if you are looking for that perfect gift for someone special.

On Saturday, Poetry Weekend continues with the following poets scheduled to read:  Valerie Nieman, John Thomas York, Isabel Zuber, Terri  Kirby Erickson, and Joseph Mills.  And Designs by April Dawn will also be on display.

On Sunday, Poetry Weekend continues with Helen Losse, Becky Gould-Gibson and Patricia Hall all scheduled to read. 

Books by all the poets participating will be available for purchase.  So you can see that this weekend, Barnhills is THE place to be.  And as always there will be free wine tastings available all weekend.  So come get a glass and wine and listen to some fabulous poetry.

We received in the store a new selection of wine related gifts.

We now have in stock the popular Climbing Tendril Wine Rack in Chrome.   There is a black one hanging in the store.  We also have a large selection of wine racks in various price ranges and sizes.

We also now have Woozies!  We have the pink ribbon woozie and 2 red holiday woozies in stock.

We also have back in stock the Vacuvin Wine Saver.  And we have a large selection of corkscrews and custom made wine totes.

Of course we also have the perfect wine for any occasion.  We currently have 26 vineyards represented in the store with over 200 selections to choose from.  Why go anywhere else?
